Hey everyone! It's baseball season! We're only a few weeks from real meaningful baseball games being played all over this country (and Canada (and a series in Japan))
. That's not even mentioning the college baseball season that has been underway for a few weeks already. April is without a doubt my favorite time of the year for sports. You get the start of baseball season, the latter rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament and the heart of HS track season. But mostly, the baseball season thing.
Before I reveal my picks, here are a few notes:
-I have made picks for the playoffs at the beginning of the season for the last 5 years or so. Probably since 2015, when I no doubt picked the Royals correctly to win the Commissioner's trophy. I also correctly hose the Astros in 2017. Outside of that I am usually too high on Washington (last year's pick to win it) and too low on Tampa Bay (who can blame me?).
-Last year I expanded it to all 30 teams, and did reasonably well. I picked 4 division winners right but failed miserably in the playoffs. I had Washington over Cleveland in the WS.
-I did some research, but honestly most of this was just my heart and brain telling me what was going to happen this year.
With all that said, here are my picks:
AL East:
BOS 101-61
NYY 99-63
TB 87-75
TOR 75-87
BAL 59-103
AL Central:
CLE 92-70
MIN 84-78
KC 70-92
CHW 66-96
DET 60-102
AL West:
HOU 99-63
OAK 86-76
LAA 82-80
SEA 69-93
TEX 64-98
NL East:
WAS 93-69
PHI 92-70
ATL 90-72
NYM 75-87
MIA 62-100
NL Central
MIL 92-69
CHC 91-71
STL 86-76
CIN 81-81
PIT 66-96
NL West
LAD 96-66
COL 94-68
SD 80-82
ARI 74-88
SF 66-96
This brings us to the playoffs:
AL Wild Card- NYY over TB NL Wild Card COL over PHI
ALDS NYY over BOS NLDS COL over LAD
ALDS HOU over CLE NLDS WAS over MIL
ALCS HOU over NYY NLCS COL over WAS
A few notes:
- The Red Sox look loaded again, but the reigning champs always do. And they never have won a second World Series in a row this milennium. So I'm not buying Boston.
- I was shocked where I ended up in the NL. If I were rooting it would come down to the Brewers and the Rockies, but I just don't see the Brewers getting there without adding some pitching...which I think they will. And now I am thinking about changing my picks so I don't get burned by Washington again. But I digress...
Your 2019 Fall Classic will come down to a battle between the Rockies and the Astros. I think the series will go 6 games with the trophy going back to Houston for the second time in three years!
Thanks for reading, and I would love to get some feedback in the comments.
